The dream of Megara Events began when two friends, Meg Tonkin and Lara Dippenaar, met working aboard one of the world’s premium superyachts. Traveling to exotic locations and catering to the requirements of some of the world’s most influential people provided the ideal platform on which to draw inspiration for our creative spirits. A background in PR and Communications, combined with a love for people and providing an exceptional service, made it inevitable that on our joint return to Cape Town the dream of founding Megara would become a reality. The company has grown into an established and reputable name in the events industry, and in 2019, Meg took over as sole director. Originally from Johannesburg, Meg’s love for Cape Town was cemented whilst attaining her degree from the University of Cape Town. Her love for a challenge and adventure meant that soon after graduation, Meg joined the illustrious Superyacht Industry. Drawn to the fast-paced, high energy and demanding environment of the yachting world, Meg quickly elevated herself to the position of Interior Manager on some of the World’s most prestigious property. Drawing on her eight years of international, VIP experience, Meg is a dynamic leader and formidable planner skilled at producing highly complex events with complete focus and skill. Her defining trait is her ability to skillfully problem-solve, ensuring that every event is a customised experience. Her calm demeanor, approachable nature and sheer joy in creating a truly unique experience, makes her a trusted partner with her colleagues, clients, and vendors worldwide.
